From the 1st of February 2022 Aqualab can now claim to be an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. While our drinking water testing has been recognised under the Ministry of Health Level 2 criteria for more than 17 years the new accreditation is an up grade. It also allows for the addition of tests outside of drinking water to be accredited. Currently we have added a bacteria test for marine samples but will look to add further tests on an ongoing basis. This has been a major project for Aqualab being a owner operated business and management feel a great deal of pride in achieving this goal. In particular doing this under Covid-19 restrictions while still operating under all alert levels has been a challenge. With the formation of the new water regulator – Taumata Arowai – this will be a requirement for all laboratories performing drinking water testing in a few years so we have got off to a quick start.
