Drinking-water Standards for New Zealand 2005 (Revised 2018)
On March 1 2019 a new edition of the DWSNZ will come in to effect. Amongst a number of editorial changes there will be a requirement to enumerate E.Coli (in the past a presence/absence test was acceptable) and also to count Total coliforms. There is no limit set for Total coliforms, however if some are found in a sample then this may be a indicator that a problem is developing and that a check of your system would be a good idea.

The good news is that determining Total coliforms is part of the method that Aqualab uses for the E.Coli test so clients will not be seeing any extra charges at this stage.
